Level 1: Basic Newborn Care
Typically for healthy, full-term infants who need some assistance stabilizing.
Level II: Advanced Newborn Care
Typically for babies born greater than 32 weeks gestation or who are recovering from a serious medical condition.
Level III: Subspecialty Newborn Care
Typically for babies born less than 32 weeks gestation as well as babies who are born with a critical illness at any gestational age.
Level IV: Highest Level of Neonatal Care
For most acute care. These nurseries are located in a hospital that can provide surgical repairs of complex congenital or acquired illnesses.
