Information about Mark's Mission

our Mission

Mark’s Mission strives to promote family bonding between parents and their children in NICUs and other hospital units through education, facilitation, and support. We aim to overcome burdens and provide financial support for families who experience hardship so they may be present in their child’s healing efforts. Our mission is to improve health outcomes for infants and children and create family memories that last a lifetime.

we believe that the smallest things make the greatest impact

Mark’s Mission began in 2019 as a program called Make Your Mark. Our founder, Brittany wanted to give back to the local Neonatal Intensive Care Unit at Wolfson Children’s Hospital in Jacksonville, Florida. Brittany’s son, Mark, was born at 27 weeks and 4 days gestation. He weighed 1 pound 7 ounces at birth and spent almost 4 months in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit.
After Mark came home from the hospital, Brittany began to plan his birthday party. She came across a brilliant idea- instead of a card, ask guests to bring a preemie onesie to donate. To her surprise, the donations didn’t stop at the birthday party. Year after year an item would be added to the list of donation options. Board books to promote bonding, blankets to personalize the space, and of course more onesies. After donating over 1,000 items to the NICU as a program and seeing the impact it had on the families, Brittany decided to pursue an even bigger goal- turn the Make Your Mark program into a nonprofit.
In March 2022, Mark’s Mission became a not-for-profit organization. In May 2022, Mark’s Mission was granted 501(c)(3) status by the United States Internal Revenue Code.
The 501(c)(3) status allows Mark’s Mission to continue to serve its community and add new programs such as the Make Your Mark Financial Assistance Program for families with children in the NICU and PICU.

Our Vision

Our vision is to create a community that inspires hope and fosters togetherness in times of adversity.

We kindly ask that donations are limited to new or gently used preemie and newborn onesies, baby blankets, board books, and monetary donations. This ensures we are not taking away items from other organizations that could use more unique or specific donations, including cribs, breast pumps, or strollers.
